Ernie Johnson has spent six decades in baseball, as a player and then broadcaster.  He started in the minors in 1942, and after three years serving his country in the U.S. Marines, he moved up to the Major Leagues as a pitcher for the Boston Braves.  Ernie achieved his greatest fame calling play-by-play of Atlanta Braves games, which he still does occasionally when one of the 'youngsters' on the announcing staff needs a day off.

Generations of fans grew up listening to the “Voice of the Braves," whether locally on their car radios or on national television on the TBS Superstation.

Ernie's family and friends, his fans, and the Atlanta Braves think it’s time he received the ultimate honor for a broadcaster:  the Ford C. Frick Award, which is presented at Cooperstown during the annual Induction Ceremony on Hall of Fame weekend .
